BAU co. — About company | Civil Engineer on Samui

My name is Dmitry, founder of BAU co. But first and foremost — I am a civil engineer.

In 1997, as a student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, in one of the old lecture halls, I first heard the Latin Triad of Vitruvius — the fundamental principle of architecture, formulated by the ancient Roman architect and engineer Marcus Vitruvius Pollio in the 1st century BC.

"Firmitas. Utilitas. Venustas" — Strength. Utility. Beauty.

Over 30 years of real construction practice, going from harsh industrial facilities to private development, I realized: this is not just a formula of architecture.

Every man has an innate desire to create — to turn chaos into order, to give form to ideas, and to lay a foundation that he will not be ashamed of before his children. A builder is a Creator who, like a father, protects his project and bears personal responsibility for it.

Having moved to Thailand, I saw how often people build for the sake of a "beautiful picture," forgetting the essence. That is why at BAU co. I returned to the golden standard I adopted for myself back in my student days:

✦ Strength (lat. Firmitas) — reliability and durability. The structure must be stable, reliably protect from external influences and preserve its construction over time.

✦ Utility (lat. Utilitas) — practicality and functionality. The building must be perfectly suited for its purpose, comfortable and safe.

✦ Beauty (lat. Venustas) — aesthetic appeal. The building should please the eye, have harmonious proportions and delight the viewer with its appearance.

I am personally involved in every stage — from geodetic surveys to commissioning. The real magic begins where the drawing meets the ground. My signature on the contract is my personal responsibility to you and my reputation.
